Keeping your skin soft in northern climes

Moving to Alaska two years ago brought a lot of changes to my life, but one of the biggest was what happened to my skin.

The Last Frontier’s forested landscape was a feast for my urban eyes, but it wrought havoc on my face. When I went outside, the climate would wring moisture out of my skin like water out of a sponge. The unforgiving weather turned my formerly glowing cheeks into parched flakiness. While I used to look for beauty in the mirror, now the only beauty I saw was in the scenery around me.
